Mr. Rouse

Not particularly sure whether it's a mouse or a rat so his name is Mr. Rouse. Shading has improved, the character is now standing ad the background is a bit more complete. I wanted to make my character a less realistic color so i went with purple for the main fur and pink for the tummy, tail, and ears. The eyes are a light blue to match the rest of its coloring. As for the background... because autumn is coming I wanted to work with some fall colors. It is a forest background with the rouses den in the right hand corner. Now blending the character in with the background is my next challenge.

P.s. the imperfections on the background around the ears and the tail happened when i was finishing the cleanup and unfortunately I have no idea how to fix it. I'll work on it.

The Fox

I've been super busy this summer visiting friends and getting everything ready to move back to Denmark. Now that I have more time I'm beginning to practice with photoshop more and trying to get accustomed to the different ways of painting in it. I've worked in it before making simple characters but today I really experimented with the layers. I've been using a the cintiq 13hd and am very satisfied with the product. Very good pen sensitivity and the size of the screen is ideal. A bonus is not having to look at the computer screen the whole time. 

The Result:

The shading in some areas should be stronger and the grass should overlap at the paws but not too shabby for a first serious attempt :D
